We're a 100-year-old not-for-profit, set up to support Australians through the things that matter most – mental health, relationships, family, life transitions. When you choose Interrelate, you're choosing a service built for your wellbeing, not its bottom line.

Our veteran psychologists work with Veteran Gold Card and Veteran White Card holders. With a valid GP referral, your psychology sessions are billed directly to DVA – meaning no out-of-pocket cost to you. We accept the DVA fee as full payment, as required under the DVA schedule of fees for psychologists.

Whether you’re at home, in a regional posting or transitioning out of service, DVA psychology online puts qualified support within reach. Distance is no longer a barrier to quality care – and with Interrelate’s wraparound services all in one place, you’ll have everything you need.

DVA psychology works in 12-session treatment cycles, and finding a psychologist not included in DVA referral cycle arrangements can mean starting over. Our team is here to support you across the long haul – through your current cycle, the next renewal and however many it takes.

Our Australian-based DVA registered psychologists are fully accredited with AHPRA and experienced in supporting veterans, current and former ADF members, and their families. When you're searching for a veteran affairs psychologist who understands service life, that experience matters – your DVA referral is seamlessly supported, and your care is grounded in the standards and values that matter here.

• Browse our team profiles and choose the DVA psychologist who feels right for you.
• Book your appointment via our online portal.
• Once booked, you’ll receive a confirmation email with everything you need to get started.

• Visit your GP and ask for a DVA referral (D0904) for psychology services.
• Have your Veteran Card (Gold or White) details ready – we’ll need these before your first session.
• Already have one? Great – just share the details when you book and you're ready to go.

• Join from wherever you are – all you need is a device with a camera and microphone and a quiet space.
• Five minutes before your appointment, click the Zoom link in your confirmation email, or head to My Appointments in our portal.
• We recommend using Zoom for the best session experience, but you can also attend via a web browser.
• Can't make it? No problem – just let us know 24 hours in advance to reschedule.
Leaving service is a significant life shift. Our psychologists for veterans can help you navigate identity, purpose, structure and the practical realities of life beyond the uniform.
For many veterans, alcohol or substances become a way to manage what’s hard to sit with. Our DVA psychologists provide compassionate, non-judgmental support to help you understand the patterns and work toward lasting change.
When anger starts affecting your relationships, your work or your sense of who you are, our DVA psychologists help you understand what’s driving it and develop healthier responses.
From operational hypervigilance that hasn’t switched off to everyday worry that’s started to take over, our DVA psychologists are here to help you understand and work through it.
Service can take a toll – persistent low mood, flat days, feeling disconnected from people you love. Talking to a DVA psychologist online can be a powerful first step back toward feeling like yourself again.
The loss of mates – through combat, through suicide, through the slow erosion of time – is a particular kind of grief. Our DVA psychologists hold space for it.
PTSD is a mental health condition that many veterans live with. Our DVA-approved psychologists are trained in evidence-based trauma therapies, including EMDR, prolonged exposure and cognitive processing therapy.
Trauma –recent or long-standing – deserves careful, specialised support. Our NDIS approved psychologists are experienced in helping you process difficult experiences safely.
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) helps you understand the link between your thoughts, feelings and behaviours – and build new patterns where the old ones aren't working. Our NDIS clinical psychologists use CBT as part of a holistic, individualised approach.
Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on accepting what's outside your control and committing to actions that move you toward what matters. Our NDIS psychologists use ACT to help you build a fuller, more workable life alongside whatever you're navigating.
Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) is a specialised trauma therapy that helps you process difficult experiences and reduce their hold on the present. Our NDIS registered psychologists are trained in EMDR for careful, trauma-focused care.
Yes. The Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) covers psychologist sessions for eligible Veteran Card holders. DVA pays providers directly through the DVA schedule of fees for psychologists, meaning there’s no out-of-pocket cost to you. Gold Card holders are covered for all clinically necessary health conditions, including mental health. White Card holders are covered for accepted service-related conditions, and can also access mental health support under Non-Liability Health Care for conditions including PTSD, depression, anxiety and alcohol or substance use disorders. At Interrelate, we accept the DVA fee as full payment – no gap fees apply.
Our DVA psychology service is available to Veteran Card holders (Gold or White), including current and former ADF members, reservists with at least one day of full-time service, and other eligible veterans. Sessions are entirely online, so you can live anywhere in Australia and access ongoing professional support.
Yes. Interrelate’s psychologists are DVA-approved psychologists – also known as veterans affairs psychologists. They are fully accredited with AHPRA and registered with Services Australia, which automatically registers them to provide services to DVA clients. As DVA-approved psychologists Australia-wide, our team is experienced in supporting veterans, ADF members and their families through the conditions and challenges that come with service life.
Yes – a DVA Gold Card can be used for psychologist sessions for any clinically necessary condition, with no requirement for the condition to be service-related. You’ll need a current referral from your GP (or, for an initial treatment cycle, from a medical specialist, treating hospital doctor or hospital discharge planner). Have your Veteran Card details ready when you book.
Yes. Our DVA white card psychologists support White Card holders in two ways. For service-related conditions accepted on your White Card, treatment is fully funded by DVA. For mental health conditions under Non-Liability Health Care – including PTSD, depression, anxiety and alcohol or substance use disorders – treatment is also fully funded, without the condition needing to be formally accepted as service-related. As experienced DVA white card psychologist providers, we’ll guide you through either pathway. You’ll need a current GP referral in both cases.
DVA psychologist fees are set by the DVA Schedule of Fees, published by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs and updated regularly. By accepting a Veteran Card, providers agree to accept the DVA fee as full payment – which means no gap fee, no top-up and no out-of-pocket cost to you. Interrelate’s DVA clinical psychologist fees, like our standard DVA psychologist fees, are fully aligned with the current DVA fee schedule psychologist arrangements. For full transparency on clinical psychologist fees DVA-wide, call us on 1300 473 528.
Yes. DVA clients need a valid GP referral to see a psychologist, typically issued via the DVA referral form (D0904). For an initial treatment cycle, the referral could alternatively come from a medical specialist, treating hospital doctor or hospital discharge planner. Once a treatment cycle ends, you’ll need a new referral from your GP to continue with further sessions.
The DVA treatment cycle is the standard arrangement for allied health referrals, including psychology. A single referral lasts up to 12 sessions or 1 year, whichever ends first. After that, your GP reviews your progress and can issue a new referral for another cycle if ongoing support is clinically needed. There’s no cap on the number of treatment cycles you can have – as many as your GP determines are clinically necessary.
If you want to switch psychologists – or you’re returning to therapy after a break and have found a psychologist not included in DVA referral cycle arrangements with your current provider – your GP can issue a new referral that names Interrelate. Once we have a valid referral in place, we can begin treatment under the current cycle. Call us on 1300 473 528 and we’ll help you work through it.
Veterans often tell us they can’t find a psychologist who accepts DVA payment in their area, particularly outside major cities. As a not-for-profit committed to accessible care, Interrelate accepts DVA payment for all eligible Veteran Card holders – Gold and White – and our sessions are entirely online, so location isn’t a barrier. If you’ve struggled to find DVA-approved psychologists Australia-wide in your local area, call us on 1300 473 528, and we’ll connect you with one of our DVA-registered psychologists.
Both DVA and Medicare can help pay for psychology sessions, but they work differently. Medicare-funded psychology is available to anyone with a Mental Health Treatment Plan from their GP and covers up to 10 sessions per calendar year. DVA-funded psychology is available to eligible Veteran Card holders and works in 12-session treatment cycles, renewable indefinitely with a new GP referral. DVA fully covers the cost via the DVA fees for psychologists – meaning no out-of-pocket cost – while Medicare-rebated sessions can leave a gap depending on the provider. You can’t use both funding pathways for the same session. If you’re unsure which is right for you, call us on 1300 473 528.
Interrelate’s DVA-approved psychologists Australia-wide are experienced in supporting veterans through PTSD, military trauma, transition out of service and the broader emotional impact of military life. To book, browse our team profiles and choose the DVA psychologist Australia-wide who feels right for you, or call us on 1300 473 528 and we’ll match you with the most suitable clinician for your needs. You’ll need a current GP referral and your Veteran Card details ready when you book.
