Affordable

We are committed to providing affordable mental health care and support services and can offer you low cost telehealth psychological support. If for any reason our fees are preventing you seeking support you can request for a fee review to bulk bill your service with a valid mental health care plan. See our fees for more details

Accessible

We offer help to all whether you reach out to us directly (self-referral), are referred to us by your GP with a mental health care plan or via an insurance claim including workers compensation. We also don't want you to be limited by the availability of mental health support services in your local area so save on travel and wait time and receive quality support at a time and place that works for you, either online or via phone. Online support is provided via a high-quality conferencing system, using either your mobile, computer or tablet, secured with end-to-end encryption to ensure your privacy.

Effective

The I relate. Health team are highly qualified, experienced, and skilled allied health clinicians, counsellors and clinical psychologists who deliver evidence informed online mental health care. Research consistently shows that for most mental health conditions online psychological support is as effective as in-person. Similarly, people’s overall satisfaction with telehealth is comparable to in-person appointments.

You do not need a referral to access services from I relate. Health however to access Medicare rebates for psychological support you will need a mental health treatment plan from your GP.

In Australia, psychology is a regulated profession and includes registered psychologists and clinical psychologists. They are accredited by the Psychology Board of Australia, which is part of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). At a minimum all psychologists complete a 6-year sequence of university studies and supervised training. A Clinical Psychologist has completed an advanced training program in the form of either a Masters or Doctorate qualification plus a program of supervised practice.

Psychologists are trained in the science of how people think, feel, behave and learn. Psychologists have specialist skills and expertise in assessing, diagnosing, and treating moderate to severe mental health conditions.

Book a Psychologist

Accredited Mental Health Social Workers are highly trained and skilled allied health professionals, meeting some of the highest standards of professional regulation in Australia. They are recognised providers with Medicare and deliver clinical social work services in mental health settings, utilising a range of evidence-based counselling. Mental Health Social Workers provide a unique contribution to mental health care by their holistic approach to working with a person.

The Australian Government's Better Access Initiative provides Medicare rebates to access psychological support from a psychologist or mental health social worker.

To access these rebates you will need a Mental Health Treatment Plan which is issued by your GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician, written collaboratively between you and your doctor outlining your mental health goals and treatment options.

With a valid Mental Health Care Plan and referral to I relate. Health, you can claim up to 10 individual Medicare subsidised sessions each calendar year leaving a gap fee to pay of only $60 per session.

If you're unable to book in a session with your GP prior to your first session we can accept a Mental Health Treatment Plan at any point and you'll receive the payment assistance from your next session.

To access Medicare rebates, you need a current Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP. This will allow you to claim up to 10 individual psychological counselling sessions each calendar year.

All plans must be dated on or before the date of your session (and must be accompanied by a valid referral). Mental Health Treatment Plans and GP referrals cannot be backdated.

After each session I relate. Health process eligible Medicare rebates via an electronic claim system. Medicare will then pay your rebate into either (a) the account of the card you used to pay, or (b) the bank account you have pre-registered with Medicare.

We keep it affordable by maintaining a low gap fee of only $60 per session with a valid Mental Health Care Plan, with bulk billing options available if fees would prevent your patient seeking support.

Yes! We can take direct referrals to our service without you contacting us. Referral cards have some information for your clients as well as a QR code to take them directly to booking.

Anyone seeking psychological support can access I Relate. Health. We support children aged 8 and above, young people, adults, couples, families and organisations seeking support for employees.

Yes, I relate. Health services are available Australia wide as all services are delivered via telehealth. Telehealth is health care that you can access online or over the phone using either your mobile, tablet or computer.

No, all I relate. Health services are delivered via telehealth with appointments available online or over the phone.

Please be assured that telehealth services provide a high standard of care with research consistently showing  that for most mental health conditions psychological support provided via telehealth are just as effective as face-to-face. Similarly, people's overall satisfaction with telehealth is comparable to face-to-face appointments.

We have found the right balance between affordability and meeting the operating costs of our service. Our psychological counselling appointments start from $60 per session if you have a referral from your GP and Mental Health Treatment Plan. To find our more about our fees click here.

If for any reason our fees are preventing you seeking support you can request for a fee review to bulk bill your service provided you have a valid mental health care plan*. To apply for bulk billed services either message us or call 1300 473 528 to discuss further options.

*Bulk billed psychological support must have a mental health treatment plan and valid referral.

We can deliver psychological support to people who either self-manage or plan manage their NDIS funding. Unfortunately, we do not accept referrals for agency managed clients.

If you would like to discuss a potential NDIS funded referral, please get in touch (call us on 1300 473 528 or email: referral@interrelate.org.au).

To process NDIS services, we require your NDIS number, a copy of your plan (so we can service against the appropriate line item) and invoicing details. The fee for NDIS funded clients is aligned to the NDIS schedule of fees so there are no out-of-pocket costs for NDIS funded clients.
